NCOA Webinar: Autonomy and Access for Adults Aging with Disability (Session 2)

Event Start Date: October 18, 2017 - 4:00 PM EDT
Event End Date: October 18, 2017 - 4:00 PM EDT

As the U.S. population ages, an increasing number of Americans with disabilities acquired early in life are living into their later years. These individuals are said to be “aging with disability” and represent a growing population with unique healthcare needs. This population challenges our usual definitions of what it means to age “successfully”, and calls for new policies and approaches to maximize access to healthcare, long-term services and supports, and evidence based programming.

This webinar series, hosted with support from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) and the National Council on Aging (NCOA), will present recent research advances in key areas, including long-term services and supports, community access and autonomy, and healthcare policy changes for people aging with disabilities.
