The Disability-Competent Care model was developed by providers and four health plans that serve beneficiaries dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. It was created to specifically address the unique needs of adults with disabilities. The Lewin Group, under contract with the CMS Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office, partnered with Christopher Duff and other disability practice experts to create the DCC-START tool. Recordings of the webinar as well as previous webinar series will be available for online streaming or download at https://www.resourcesforintegratedcare.com. The Resources for Integrated Care website also features additional resources and tools for providers and health plans.

The CMS Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office (MMCO), in collaboration with The Lewin Group, is excited to announce a webinar highlighting the Disability-Competent Care Self-paced Training Assessment Review Tool (DCC-START).

The webinar introduces and provides a sequential walk-through of the DCC-START, demonstrates how plans and organizations can use the tool and its supporting materials and highlights Buckeye Health Plan’s experience using the tool.

The DCC-START is a free resource intended to assist health plans, health systems, and health care provider organizations in strengthening their efforts to provide more integrated, coordinated care to their members with disabilities. The DCC-START assesses the disability competence of an organization’s training materials and identifies opportunities for training augmentation and enhancement informed by the Disability-Competent Care (DCC) model.  Organizations have the opportunity to complete the DCC-START using their current training materials and are directed to additional resources to enhance the effectiveness and completeness of their disability training materials.
