Description:
As part of the "Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Webinar Series," this webinar examines the needs of aging parents and their adult child with I/DD. The purpose of this session is to:
- Help comprehensive care coordination plans accommodate the changing focus of the support needs from the older I/DD adult child to the needs of the informal caregiver (parents) and of their spouse as they enter the last of the three stages of burden of care
- Be aware that changes in both the aging caregivers and the older I/DD adults do not create barriers to independence but increase the risk that the environment may become a barriers to independence
